I was listening to a radio podcast about the state of blogging in Korea recently, about English language bloggers.
Shawn's blog was mentioned as one of the three most influencial ones from the beginning. Not forgotten.

I still think of Shawn. I enjoyed his blog and had planned to email him and say so, and also how I once lived in Liverpool, New York, just a few minutes from where he grew up. Wish I had taken the time.
Peace to your spirit, Mr. Matthews, wherever it is.

Many say the internet doesn't forget. Four years later it is obvious. A lot of Shawn's postings are gone. But there was someone who saved his Korea writings (photos still missing):

I'm still thinking about you Shawn, I still remember when I read your blog while my two little kids were asleep and I wait long nights of winter in kansas for my husband who at the time was in Iraq and your posts make the waiting time less dreading, my life has change a lot since then, there is no one else to wait for and he is not mine anymore, but my rocks are with me(my kids) so I cannot even imagine the pain your mom must had felt. I wish you were here
